The youth-20 workshop concluded successfully at ICAR-NRC on Mithun, under the overall framework of the G20 Presidency

The ICAR-NRC on Mithun Nrc On Mithun, Medziphema, organized an IPR Workshop as part of the Y-20 events, under the #G20. With the support of the Intellectual Property and Technology Management Unit (ITMU) at Nrc On Mithun, Medziphema, a one-day workshop named "Unleashing Creativity through Intellectual Property Rights of North East India" took place on August 23rd, 2023. This workshop is a key element of the Youth-20 program, which is a part of the #G20 initiative focused on empowering young people. Its primary goal is to raise awareness about intellectual property among students.

The event began with a warm welcome from the Director Girish Patil S. of ICAR-NRC on Mithun, who greeted all the distinguished guests, including the chief guest of the program Dr. D. Gnanadurai, Vice Chancellor of St. Joseph University, Chumoukidema, Nagaland. He also highlighted various forms of intellectual property, such as patents, designs, and copyrights, generated by ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Nagaland. Guest speaker for the event, Mr. Ravi Swamy, a Geographical Indicator agent from Secundrabad, delivered insightful lectures on "From Idea to Assets: A Guide to Intellectual Property Rights in India." These discussions about intellectual property rights are expected to provide valuable insights for the scientific community. Arvind Damani, Y-20 Coordinator for Nagaland, emphasized the potential of youth in contributing to intellectual property generation and fostering enthusiasm among them. Mr. Omm Priyadarshi, National Treasurer of Y-20 in New Delhi, shared insights about the Y-20 initiative of India. The Guest of Honor, Dr. H. Kalita, Head of ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, shared initiatives related to intellectual property generation in the agriculture sectors by the youth. Chief guest Dr. D. Gnanadurai, Vice Chancellor of St. Joseph University, Chumoukidema, congratulated NRC on Mithun for organizing the event under the Y-20 initiative, focusing on intellectual property rights to empower scientific skills. He also emphasized the importance of traditional knowledge in the realm of intellectual property.

The workshop saw the participation of 112 individuals, including students from St. Joseph University, Patkai Christian College, and SASRD, Nagaland University. It also welcomed scientific staff and young professionals associated with ICAR-NRC on Mithun and ICAR-Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre.
