Five-day training program on "Scientific Management of Mithun husbandry with special reference to Mithun meat production"

ICAR-NRC on Mithun successfully completed a five-day training program on "Scientific Management of Mithun husbandry with special reference to Mithun meat production" on 24th November, 2023

On 24th November 2023, ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Medziphema, organized a valedictory program marking the successful completion of a five-day training program on "Scientific Management of Mithun Husbandry with Special Reference to Mithun Meat Production." The program targeted educated tribal youths from the Karbi Anglong district, running from 20th to 24th November 2023. This training initiative was part of a broader capacity-building program with the objectives of educating, creating awareness, and enhancing knowledge and skills related to livestock husbandry, particularly focusing on Mithun husbandry practices, to benefit the entire farming community.

At the commencement, Dr. Girish Patil S, Director of ICAR-NRCM, extended congratulations to all participants for successfully completing the training program. He emphasized the ongoing need for such training initiatives in the near future. Notably, Dr. P.K. Mondal, Professor & Head of Livestock Product Technology at Rajib Gandhi Veterinary College, Pondicherry, served as a resource person during the training program. Dr. Mondal delivered hands-on training on "Processing of Meat Products and Their Value Addition" to the trainees. Additionally, another resource person, Dr. Manjunath Patel from ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar-243122, presented a lecture on "Innovative Housing Design for Semi-intensive Mithun Farming."

The initiative was undertaken as part of the ICAR-NEH project, "Innovative Interventions for Promotion of the Meat Sector in the North Eastern Region," a collaborative effort with support from ICAR-National Meat Research Institute, Hyderabad.
